This bill amends South Carolina law to require greater transparency in communicating vaccine exemption information. Specifically, any communication from the Department of Public Health about childhood or school-entry immunization requirements must now clearly include information about medical and religious exemptions, including how parents or guardians can obtain and submit exemption forms. The requirement applies to both printed and digital materials, including school communications, public health office documents, websites, emails, social media posts, and public awareness campaigns. Schools must provide written notice at least annually about exemption availability, and all exemption information must be presented in clear, plain language that is easily understood and not obscured or designed to discourage use. The State Department of Education will receive copies of these communications, and the goal is to make exemption information as accessible and transparent as the immunization requirements themselves. The bill takes effect upon the Governor's approval.
