This bill modifies the State Construction Code by adopting the 2024 edition of the International Wildland-Urban Interface Code (IWUIC) and updating references to it, replacing the previous Utah Wildland Urban Interface Code. It also adds a provision to the IWUIC requiring that designated wildland-urban interface areas meet a certain risk category threshold unless approved by the Division of Forestry, Fire, and State Lands, and removes Section 602 of the IWUIC. Furthermore, the bill delays the implementation of certain provisions related to wildland urban interface property evaluations and fees to January 1, 2027, and clarifies the process for counties to provide input on wildfire risk assessment mapping tools.
