This bill transfers certain duties and powers from the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department to the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Commission, which will now be responsible for these functions. The Commission's appointed members will be required to have experience in fields related to economic growth and tourism development, such as hospitality management, venue management, tourism promotion, real estate development, outdoor recreation, marketing and branding, and financial operations. The bill also modifies the powers and duties of the Executive Director, who will now be appointed by the Commission, not the Governor, and whose salary will be determined by the Commission. Additionally, the bill outlines organizational and meeting requirements for the Commission, including quorum, oath-taking for members, and adherence to the Oklahoma Open Meeting Act. The bill will become effective on November 1, 2026.
