This bill amends the Oklahoma Campus Security Act to require campus police officers employed by higher education institutions and public school districts to complete a minimum of six hours of evidence-based sexual assault and sexual violence training. Specifically, officers employed at the time the act takes effect must complete this training within one year. The bill also clarifies and updates existing provisions regarding campus police departments, including their authorization to establish departments, employ and commission officers, and use specific uniform and vehicle designations. The bill maintains existing rules about commissioning and revoking campus police officer commissions, including provisions for revocation by district attorneys for various criminal offenses. Additionally, the bill requires governing boards to notify the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) when officers are commissioned, relinquish, or have their commissions revoked. The act will become effective on July 1, 2026, and is declared an emergency measure, meaning it can take effect immediately upon passage and approval.
