This bill requires Indiana schools to administer the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) naturalization examination at two key stages: first in 8th grade beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, and then in high school starting in the 2030-2031 school year. For students graduating in 2031 or later, successfully passing the naturalization exam with a score of at least 70% will become a graduation requirement. Students who do not pass the exam on their first attempt will be allowed to retake it, and students with individualized education programs who earn a certificate of completion may be granted an academic waiver from the requirement.
