This bill directs the Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS), the state agency that administers Medicaid, to investigate whether it's possible and practical to offer a specific Medicaid benefit for sickle cell disease and to set up "Medicaid Health Homes." Medicaid Health Homes are designed to coordinate care and provide comprehensive treatment for individuals with sickle cell disease, a genetic blood disorder. The DMAS will then include its findings on the feasibility of these initiatives, along with a review of all current medications, treatments, and services covered by Medicaid for sickle cell disease patients, in its annual report. This report must be submitted to key legislative committees and the Joint Commission on Health Care by November 15, 2026.
