This bill requires the Florida Department of Health, working with school districts, to create informational materials for parents and guardians about how to detect developmental delays and autism spectrum disorder in students. These materials, which will describe the conditions, their signs, and recommend screenings, will be made available on the Department of Health's website and distributed to learning coalitions, preschools, school districts, and charter schools. Additionally, early learning coalitions, which are organizations that help coordinate early childhood education programs, will be required to inform parents and guardians about the availability of these new detection materials, in addition to existing information about Type 1 diabetes detection. The bill also mandates that the Department of Health develop a standardized method for notifying parents of voluntary prekindergarten, kindergarten, first, and second-grade students about these resources by September 30, 2026, and annually thereafter. The law will take effect on July 1, 2026.
