This bill establishes the Access to Housing Task Force, a group composed of six members from the House of Delegates, four from the Senate, and various state officials including the Secretaries of Commerce and Trade and Health and Human Resources, the Director of Housing and Community Development, the Executive Director of the Housing Development Authority, and the Commissioner of Social Services, or their designees. The Task Force's primary purpose is to improve access to housing in the Commonwealth by advising the Governor and state agencies on short-term and long-term housing issues, identifying communities, particularly minority and low-income ones, that might be impacted by housing decisions, gathering input from residents, and recommending strategies to increase the supply of affordable and attainable housing. All state agencies are required to assist the Task Force, which must submit its findings and recommendations to the Governor and the General Assembly by November 1, 2026, with the report being publicly available on the General Assembly's website.
