This bill proposes to recognize sworn statements and military protection orders as evidence when obtaining an order against stalking or sexual assault or a domestic relief from abuse order. A "military protective order" is defined as an order issued against a member of the U.S. Armed Forces or National Guard by their commanding officer, on a form prescribed by the Department of Defense. These orders, along with written statements sworn before specific military or federal officials, can be used in court to help establish a pattern of behavior in cases of stalking, sexual assault, or domestic abuse. The bill also includes provisions for financial assistance for National Guard members who are victims of sexual assault or harassment and participate in related administrative or military justice proceedings, covering travel expenses. This act is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
