This bill amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act to require that any non-externally vented natural gas appliance manufactured on or after January 1, 2027, must have a warning label. This label, which must be in a conspicuous location and in a font size no smaller than other consumer information on the appliance, will inform consumers that gas appliances can release nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide indoors at levels exceeding Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards, potentially worsening respiratory illnesses or causing asthma, especially in children, and that these appliances should always be used with a ducted vent hood. The Attorney General is authorized to create additional rules regarding the label's placement and format, and any violation of this new requirement will be considered an unlawful practice under the Act.
