AI Summary

This bill, the Petition Administration Clarification Emergency Amendment Act of 2026, amends the District of Columbia Election Code of 1955 to clarify rules around petition circulation and signing. It requires that affidavits for candidate nomination petitions, as well as petitions for initiatives, referendums, and recalls, must state that the person circulating the petition has not altered any information provided by a signer after they signed. The bill also explicitly prohibits anyone from changing signer information on these petitions, unless the signer specifically requests assistance in filling out or correcting information before they sign, and prohibits the use of correction fluid or tape. These changes are being made on an emergency basis, meaning they will be in effect for a limited period of 90 days.
