This bill amends existing Vermont law to make members of the General Assembly eligible for the same group health benefits, including hospital-surgical-medical expense insurance, employee assistance programs, and flexible spending accounts, that are offered to State employees. Previously, members of the General Assembly were explicitly excluded from this definition of "employees" for insurance purposes. Under this bill, members of the General Assembly will be required to pay the same portion of their health insurance premiums as employees of the Executive Branch. This change is set to take effect on January 1, 2027, and will apply to coverage starting on or after that date.
