This bill amends Indiana law regarding what constitutes acceptable proof of identification for voting purposes. Specifically, it adds a new provision that allows a REAL ID driver's license or identification card, which is a federally recognized form of identification that meets certain security standards, to be considered sufficient proof of identification as long as it displays the voter's name, a photograph, and is not expired or expired after the most recent general election. This is in addition to existing acceptable forms of identification, such as those issued by the U.S. military or Department of Veterans Affairs, and clarifies that documents from educational institutions are not acceptable.
