This bill amends existing Utah law to include speech-language pathologists and speech-language technicians as "eligible teachers" for a salary supplement program aimed at highly needed educators, and also expands the definition of "classroom teacher" to include these professionals when determining funding for teaching supplies and materials. The bill clarifies that "teaching supplies and materials" can now be used for therapeutic purposes, not just educational ones, and that these funds are for classroom activities approved by the Local Education Agency (LEA), which is a school district or charter school. Importantly, this bill will take effect on July 1, 2026.
