This bill, contingent on legislative funding, requires the Florida Center for Cybersecurity, also known as Cyber Florida, to develop a Cybersecurity Experiential Learning Program aimed at enhancing practical learning opportunities for students across state universities, Florida College System institutions, and private postsecondary educational institutions. The program will involve identifying impactful internship and experiential learning opportunities recommended by the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for high-demand cybersecurity jobs, consulting with Florida employers about their cybersecurity staffing needs, and reviewing successful cybersecurity experiential learning models from National Security Agency National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity-designated institutions. Cyber Florida will also establish minimum student qualifications for program enrollment and identify participating institutions and their projected student numbers. Furthermore, by July 1, 2028, and annually thereafter, Cyber Florida must publish a report on its website detailing student participation, completion rates, certification exam pass rates, job placement rates in cybersecurity roles for program completers, and recommendations for program improvements, including potential integration with other state workforce initiatives. This act is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
