This bill amends existing law to clarify that a fire protection fee, which is a service charge levied to cover the costs of establishing and maintaining a fire district, will now be collected from the owners of various types of residences, including house trailers and manufactured homes, in addition to single-family homes, duplexes, condominiums, apartment buildings, and lots used for recreational vehicles as dwellings. The bill also makes minor wording changes to improve clarity and specifies that the new provisions will take effect on October 1, 2026.
