This bill mandates that the State Board of Education establish statewide standards and policies for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in schools, requiring that students only use AI when explicitly permitted by a teacher and that they disclose its use in their work, while also mandating AI monitoring and proctored assessments for the Florida Virtual School. The bill also directs the Department of Education to collect data on student AI use, teacher-reported academic dishonesty, and student performance, and to provide teachers with training on AI detection and responsible use, while also reviewing school district compliance with these new AI policies. Furthermore, students in specified grade levels will receive instruction on digital literacy and the ethical considerations of using AI, and student codes of conduct will be updated to include these AI policies, with the changes taking effect on July 1, 2026.
