This bill modifies provisions related to multidisciplinary adult protection teams by defining "multidisciplinary adult protection team" as a group of at least two individuals recognized by the Department of Health and Senior Services to help identify, investigate, prosecute, prevent, and treat offenses against eligible adults, who are defined as individuals aged 60 or older or adults aged 18-59 with disabilities who cannot protect their own interests or meet their essential needs. The bill expands access to confidential reports concerning these adults to include members of these multidisciplinary teams when acting in their official capacity, and it allows team members to share necessary information with each other to benefit the eligible adult, while still requiring that such information be maintained confidentially and only used for official duties. The bill also clarifies that the reporter's name will not be disclosed unless they authorize it or the department determines disclosure is necessary to prevent further harm to the eligible adult, with an exception for providing the name to the Department of Mental Health for investigating abuse and neglect of vulnerable persons.
