This bill modifies how fees collected from watercraft certifications are used, specifically impacting the revenue allocated to the state general revenue fund and the water patrol division fund. Beginning July 1, 2019, the first one million dollars collected annually was designated for the general revenue fund, with the remainder for the water patrol division. This bill changes this by stipulating that on or after August 28, 2026, all fees collected under this section will be deposited into the water patrol division fund and used exclusively for that division, effectively eliminating the portion that previously went to the state general revenue fund. The bill also clarifies fee structures for certain homemade wooden vessels.
