This bill establishes a process for veterans and service members to obtain occupational licenses by allowing the Division of Professional Licensing, in consultation with the Department of Veterans and Military Affairs, to evaluate military skills, experience, training, and education to determine if they are substantially equivalent to the requirements for a license and can substitute for them, with the division required to make this information publicly available and to grant credit for relevant military experience when an applicant doesn't meet all current requirements. The bill also mandates that the division report on the number of veterans and service members granted licenses under this new provision to the Business and Labor Interim Committee by November 1, 2028, and that this reporting requirement will be repealed on January 1, 2029, while also updating the responsibilities of the Department of Veterans and Military Affairs to include consulting with the Division of Professional Licensing on these licensing matters, and the bill is set to take effect on May 6, 2026.
