This bill establishes the Health Information Technology Fund within the Department of Health and Human Services to support the ongoing operations and long-term viability of a state-designated statewide health information exchange, which is a system that allows for the secure sharing of patient health information among different healthcare providers and organizations. The fund will also be used to ensure the state meets its matching fund requirements to secure available federal funding for this exchange. This fund is designed to be nonlapsing, meaning any unspent money will carry over to the next fiscal year, and will be comprised of legislative appropriations, federal funds, grants, gifts, and other public or private contributions. Beginning in the 2026-27 fiscal year, the bill includes an ongoing annual appropriation of $1,800,000 to support the fund.
