This bill creates a new Florida law that provides immunity from civil liability to federal firearms licensees, which are individuals or businesses licensed to sell firearms under federal law, when they enter into "firearm hold agreements" with firearm owners. A firearm hold agreement is defined as a private arrangement where the licensee either stores a firearm securely for the owner, with only the owner having access, or takes temporary physical possession of a lawfully owned firearm at the owner's request and returns it later. This immunity applies to acts or omissions related to these agreements, including the return of the firearm, as long as the licensee is operating lawfully and the agreement itself is not the result of unlawful conduct by the licensee. However, this protection does not extend to firearm transfers under a different law or situations where a protection order is in place against the firearm owner. The law is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
