This bill amends existing Virginia law to prohibit trespassing on emergency vehicles, defining an "emergency vehicle" as it is defined in another section of the code (§ 46.2-818.2) and also including public works or public utilities vehicles. The bill makes it a Class 4 misdemeanor, a less serious criminal offense, for anyone to enter or remain on or within an emergency vehicle without permission or after being told to leave by the owner, lessee, or authorized operator. This expands the existing law, which already covered trespassing on public transportation services, to now explicitly include these types of emergency vehicles.
