AI Summary
This bill modifies Indiana's election laws to adjust how straight-ticket votes are counted, particularly when a voter also casts individual votes for certain offices. It repeals provisions that prevented straight-party votes from being counted for candidates in at-large districts (where more than one person is elected to the same office) and removes specific ballot placement requirements for such offices. The bill clarifies that if a voter casts a straight-party ticket but also votes for individual candidates for an office where multiple people can be elected, those individual votes will be counted unless they exceed the number of available positions, while the straight-party votes for that specific office will not be counted, though straight-party votes for other offices will still be valid. It also specifies how straight-ticket votes are handled on paper ballots and makes conforming amendments to ensure consistency across different voting systems.
