This bill establishes the Middle Eastern and North African Advisory Board within the executive branch of state government to advise the Governor on developing economic, professional, cultural, educational, and governmental connections between Virginia and the Middle Eastern and North African community in the Commonwealth. The Board will consist of 21 non-legislative citizen members, with at least 15 of Middle Eastern or North African descent, appointed by the Governor, along with several Secretaries of state government or their designees serving as ex officio members. Members will serve four-year terms, with limitations on consecutive terms, and will not receive compensation but will be reimbursed for expenses. The Board is tasked with studying issues, formulating recommendations, and advising the Governor on matters affecting the Middle Eastern and North African community, with staff support provided by the Governor's office and cooperation from other state agencies. This advisory board is scheduled to expire on June 30, 2029.
