This bill grants retroactive tier II membership in the New York State and Local Police and Fire Retirement System (NYSLPFRS) to Javier-Luis I. Martinez, an employee of the town of Colonie, by deeming him to have joined the system on June 30, 2008, the date he was first employed as a youth court program assistant, and for whom this membership was not processed due to no fault of his own. Tier II is a classification within the retirement system that determines an individual's benefits and contributions, and this bill allows Mr. Martinez to be classified under this earlier tier if he applies within one year of the bill's enactment.
