This bill requires the State Board of Health to change its regulations concerning the permanent pumping and hauling of sewage. Specifically, it mandates that the Board amend a regulation (12 VAC 5 - 610 - 599) to create an exemption for the pumping and hauling of sewage that is connected to an agritourism activity. Agritourism refers to activities that bring visitors to a farm or ranch for enjoyment and education, as defined in another section of Virginia law (§ 3.2-6400). Currently, permanent pump and haul operations are generally prohibited unless they are overseen by a government entity; this bill seeks to allow these operations for agritourism businesses without that government supervision.
