This bill authorizes the issuance of up to $10 million in state general obligation bonds, which are essentially loans backed by the full faith and credit of the State of Mississippi, to fund improvements at the Mississippi Delta Community College Law Enforcement Training Academy in Sunflower County. The State Bond Commission, a body responsible for issuing state debt, will manage the sale of these bonds and oversee the use of the proceeds. These funds will be deposited into a dedicated "2026 Mississippi Delta Community College Law Enforcement Training Academy Fund" and can be used for repairs, renovations, upgrades, and improvements to the academy. Any remaining funds after the projects are completed will be used to pay off the debt incurred by the bonds. The bonds will mature within 25 years of their issuance and will be exempt from state taxes. This act will take effect on July 1, 2026, and no bonds can be issued under this authority after July 1, 2030.
