This bill establishes domestic abuse courts in Mississippi, allowing chancery and county courts to create these specialized programs, with justice and municipal courts able to participate. These courts are designed to enhance victim safety and offender accountability by coordinating justice system professionals, social programs, and judicial monitoring, linking victims and offenders to appropriate services, and centralizing case management. The Administrative Office of Courts will develop operational standards for these courts, and a dedicated "Domestic Abuse Court Fund" will be created to support their activities, funded in part by a $1.00 assessment on various traffic and criminal violations. The bill also makes conforming amendments to existing laws regarding chancery and county court jurisdiction to include their authority to establish these domestic abuse courts.
