AI Summary
This bill requires public schools, state educational institutions, correctional facilities, juvenile detention facilities, and certain governmental entities to designate multiple occupancy restrooms and changing areas for the exclusive use of either the male or female sex, with individuals generally required to use facilities designated for their sex as determined at birth based on genetics and reproductive biology, though exceptions exist for temporary designations, custodial or maintenance purposes, medical assistance, or accompaniment by a parent or caregiver. The bill also prohibits these institutions from requiring individuals under 18, or committed persons in correctional facilities, or students in state educational institutions, to share sleeping quarters with a member of the opposite sex unless they are family members. Violations of these provisions can lead to civil lawsuits against the responsible entity, with potential remedies including injunctions, declaratory judgments, and attorney's fees, while also allowing for the provision of single-occupancy facilities and accommodations for individuals with disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
