This bill expands coverage for breast examinations and screenings, requiring health insurance policies, plans, and contracts issued or renewed on or after January 1, 2027, to cover annual mammograms for individuals aged 40 to 49, and to eliminate any cost-sharing, such as deductibles or copayments, for all covered breast examinations, which are defined to include mammograms, diagnostic breast examinations, and supplemental breast examinations. Additionally, it mandates that health benefit plans provide coverage for preventive breast cancer screenings for individuals at increased risk, those with dense breast tissue, or those recommended by a healthcare provider based on other factors, without imposing frequency limitations or cost-sharing. The bill also requires self-insured state postsecondary education institution group health plans and the state employee health plan to comply with these new breast examination coverage requirements.
