This bill requires the Kentucky Department of Education to create informational materials about Type 1 diabetes for parents and guardians of students, which will include a description of the disease, its risk factors and warning signs, the importance of screening tests, and advice to consult a healthcare provider if warning signs are present or screening is positive. These materials will be made available online by the Department of Education at no cost. Subsequently, every local school board and public charter school board must ensure these informational materials are accessible on their respective websites, displayed prominently at the front entrance of each school, and available in family resource and youth services centers, ensuring that parents and guardians of all students from preschool through twelfth grade receive this important information annually.
