To utilize this provision, the employee must provide a personal statement confirming the observance of the religious holiday and give advance notice to the school district, with the district determining what constitutes sufficient notice. This change expands the existing uses of sick leave, which previously included personal illness, caring for an ill immediate family member, or mourning a deceased immediate family member.
