This bill appropriates $10,000,000 to the State Department of Mental Health for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027, to expand services for individuals struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. Specifically, $3,000,000 will be used to increase the number of rehabilitation beds within facilities managed by the department, while the remaining $7,000,000 will be distributed to community mental health centers. These funds will support both an increase in rehabilitation beds at these centers and the establishment of additional crisis intervention teams, which are specialized groups designed to respond to mental health emergencies, as outlined in Section 41-21-133 of the Mississippi Code of 1972. The bill also specifies that the funds will be disbursed from the State General Fund upon proper authorization and will take effect on July 1, 2026.
