The resolution acknowledges his profound impact on generations of musicians, including The Beatles, his global touring career, and his posthumous inductions into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as well as honors like a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, recognizing him as one of Virginia's most influential musical icons. The General Assembly is resolving to commemorate his life and legacy on the 55th anniversary of his passing and will present copies of this resolution to his family as a sign of respect and admiration.
