This bill amends Indiana Code 20-28-5-12 to exempt certain individuals seeking an initial practitioner license from specific requirements. Specifically, individuals who hold at least a bachelor's degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the subject they wish to teach, and are seeking a license in physical education, music, art (K-12), English/language arts, mathematics, reading, or health (grades 7-12), will no longer need to demonstrate proficiency in the knowledge of the subject area they are licensed to teach through a written examination or other prescribed procedures, as outlined in subsection (b)(2)(B). This change aims to streamline the licensing process for qualified candidates in these particular subject areas.
