This bill requires the Indiana Department of Health, in collaboration with several other state agencies including the Office of the Secretary of Family and Social Services and the Department of Child Services, to prepare an annual report by April 1st detailing maternal and infant health care statistics. This report will compare data from the previous calendar year to statistics from 2021, which is identified as the year before abortion restrictions were enacted following the 2022 special session of the general assembly. The report must include specific information such as the number of births, stillborn births, infant deaths, and maternal deaths, as well as data on child investigation cases, the number of practicing obstetricians and gynecologists, and the number of medical residents in these fields who leave Indiana. It will also assess access to and cost of maternal, infant, and primary care services, comparing them to 2021 levels, and analyze Medicaid reimbursement for deliveries, including specific data on Planned Parenthood reimbursements and the impact of Medicaid costs on maternal and infant health care. The Indiana Department of Health must post this report on its website and submit it electronically to the general assembly.
