This bill creates the Mississippi Curriculum Alignment Task Force, a group composed of various state education and workforce development officials, legislative committee chairs, and appointed representatives from community colleges and the Department of Education. The task force's primary duty is to review and recommend ways to align the curriculum taught in Mississippi's secondary schools (high schools) and post-secondary institutions (like community colleges and universities) to better serve students. This includes examining current high school and community college experiences, analyzing the effectiveness of Carnegie units (a standard measure of academic credit), determining the funding needed for curriculum alignment, and identifying any necessary changes to state law. The task force will meet monthly, report its progress to the Legislature, and submit a final report with recommendations by December 1, 2026, after which it will be dissolved. Members will not be compensated but may be reimbursed for expenses, and the Mississippi Department of Education will provide staff support.
