This bill amends the Nebraska Affordable Housing Act to establish new requirements for multifamily housing projects seeking assistance from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund. Specifically, beginning on the act's effective date, the Department of Economic Development can only approve such projects if at least twenty percent of the dwelling units are accessible for individuals with mobility impairments and at least ten percent are accessible for individuals with hearing or vision impairments, with "accessible" defined by federal regulations as they existed on January 1, 2026. A "multifamily housing project" is defined as a development of one or more buildings containing a total of five or more separate living units. The bill also repeals the original section of law it amends to avoid duplication.
