AI Summary
This bill establishes the "2026 Construction Training Assistance Fund" and directs a portion of state sales tax revenue, specifically 2.75% of revenue collected under Section 27-65-21, to be deposited into this fund after other diversions. The Mississippi Office of Workforce Development will administer a grant program using these funds to help public community colleges, junior colleges, and K-12 school systems cover the costs of providing construction industry training to students and to help students pay for such training. Institutions seeking these grants must apply to the Office of Workforce Development, detailing the training program, student numbers, and costs. The fund itself will be a special fund in the State Treasury, managed by the Mississippi Department of Employment Security, and money will be disbursed to the Office of Workforce Development upon legislative appropriation. This initiative aims to bolster construction workforce development by supporting educational institutions in offering relevant training programs.
