Bill Summary

AN ACT to amend the insurance law, in relation to the kinds of insurance with respect to which a rental vehicle company or peer-to-peer car sharing program administrator may act as an agent for an authorized insurer

AI Summary

This bill allows rental vehicle companies and peer-to-peer car sharing program administrators to act as agents for authorized insurers, meaning they can sell certain types of insurance. Specifically, they can now offer accident and health insurance that covers shared vehicle owners, drivers, or both, in addition to existing coverage for renters and occupants. This expands the types of insurance they can facilitate to include any other coverage that the superintendent of financial services deems appropriate for vehicle sharing.
