This bill requires the Department of Correctional Services, referred to as the "Department," to construct solid and continuous physical barriers around certain correctional facilities if they are located within one hundred yards of residential property. These barriers are intended to reduce noise and visual disturbances, enhance safety and privacy for nearby residents, and prevent trespassing and unauthorized contact between inmates and the public. The bill defines "facility" to include those classified as Maximum A, Maximum B, or Medium, as they existed on January 1, 2026, as well as any substantially similar facilities built or operated after the bill becomes law. This requirement applies to both existing facilities and those constructed or operated from the effective date of the act forward.
