This bill delays the effective date of a law that requires government appointing authorities to provide written appointment and promotion letters when extending offers for positions in the classified service, which is the general category of government jobs. Instead of taking effect 90 days after becoming law, this new provision will become effective on December 31, 2027, or 30 days after the commissioner of civil service confirms that the state's computer system can handle the changes to section 61 of the civil service law, whichever comes first. The commissioner must also notify the legislative bill drafting commission once this certification is made.
