This bill amends the Toll Highway Act to establish a new toll rate for certain vehicles pulling trailers. Specifically, the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority is prohibited from charging a toll for a passenger vehicle (defined as a "vehicle of the first division" in the Illinois Vehicle Code) that is towing a trailer with no more than two axles at a rate higher than what would be calculated by multiplying the standard toll for passenger vehicles using an I-PASS device by the total number of axles on the trailer. I-PASS is an electronic toll collection system used in Illinois. This new toll rate will apply to all drivers, regardless of whether they use an I-PASS device or pay with cash. The bill also states that it takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
