This bill mandates that the Saugus retirement board increase the disability pension for Christopher Taylor, a retired Saugus police officer who is permanently unable to perform his duties due to injuries sustained on the job. His pension will be calculated as if he had continued working at his previous salary until his death or mandatory retirement age, and these payments will be non-taxable. The bill also allows him to earn up to half of his retirement allowance without penalty, and upon reaching mandatory retirement age, he will receive a pension equal to 80% of his pre-retirement compensation. Furthermore, the Saugus retirement board will cover all past and future hospital, medical, and related expenses resulting from his injuries, and will immediately pay him his accumulated deductions. If Christopher Taylor dies while married to the spouse he had upon retirement, that spouse will receive 75% of his pension until her death, and if both he and his spouse die before their children turn 18, or if a child is incapacitated or a full-time student under 22, the pension payments will continue for the benefit of those children.
