AI Summary
This bill renames the crime of "criminal mischief" to "criminal vandalism" and consolidates several related offenses, including institutional criminal mischief, cemetery mischief, railroad mischief, and critical infrastructure facility mischief, into the new criminal vandalism statute while preserving their original penalties and defenses. It also moves provisions related to damaging caves into the criminal vandalism statute, but provisions about depositing refuse in caves are now covered under the littering statute. The bill makes conforming amendments to various Indiana Code (IC) sections to reflect these changes, including updates to definitions and references within statutes related to driving privileges, domestic violence, juvenile delinquency, pretrial diversion programs, and offenses involving caves, railroads, and critical infrastructure facilities.
