This bill eliminates supervisory fees, which were monthly charges of up to $30 imposed by the Department of Corrections on individuals under supervision such as probation or parole. The bill repeals the authority for the Commissioner of Corrections to collect these fees and mandates that the Department of Corrections cease all efforts to assess, bill, or collect them, including forgiving any outstanding amounts and removing them from records. Furthermore, failure to pay these supervisory fees will no longer be considered a violation of an individual's sentence. The bill also requires the Department to review and remove any rules or policies referencing these fees and will take effect on July 1, 2027.
