It will also advise state agencies on issues concerning tribes, serve as the governor's liaison with tribal governments and organizations, and act as an advisor on federal and state legislation and policies related to Indian affairs. Furthermore, the office will provide assistance and advice to state agencies on tribal relationships and issues impacting tribal rights, communities, lands, and interests, and regularly convene meetings with tribal nations and state parties to discuss matters of mutual interest, including annual meetings to implement the Centennial Accords. The bill also details the appointment of an executive director, the employment of staff, and clarifies that the establishment of this office does not infringe upon tribal sovereignty or preclude tribes from enacting their own laws. The office is authorized to accept grants and gifts for specific purposes, and it is required to submit an annual report to the governor and legislature detailing its operations, activities, programs, and services, which will be made publicly accessible.
