This bill requires individuals convicted of or given diversion agreements for driving under the influence (DUI) offenses to attend a victim impact panel program, which is a program developed and conducted by a court-approved nonprofit organization. The program can be attended in person or online if in-person attendance is not practical, and the organization may charge a fee of up to $100. This requirement applies to DUI offenses under state law (K.S.A. 8-2,144 and 8-1567) and similar city or county ordinances, and it will take effect on January 1, 2027. The bill also amends existing laws related to DUI offenses and diversion agreements to incorporate this new requirement and repeals the previous versions of these laws.
