This bill requires the Mississippi Secretary of State (SOS) to mail postcards to all registered voters informing them of their designated polling place, which is the location within a voting precinct (a district for voting) where they cast their ballot. Local governments must provide the SOS with polling place information at least 90 days before any general, primary, or special election, and immediately report any changes to these locations. The SOS must then send out postcards with the updated information at least 30 days before an election, or as soon as possible via certified mail if a change occurs less than 30 days before an election. The bill also amends existing laws to ensure county and municipal governments report their polling place locations to the SOS and to clarify that any changes made within 60 days of an election, even if due to exigent circumstances (urgent situations), must be documented and publicly noticed in addition to the postcard notification.
